Here we are in August 2020 and I'd like to share some of my new work, etching and water coloring.  My etching aquatint "from the Goodman Theater" was completed early this year and was accepted into the  Annual Tall Grass Gallery Exhibition in Park Forest, IL

I have three new images featuring favorite locations around Evanston

• a Watercolor of The Grosse Point Lighthouse in Evanston on Lake Michigan is featured in a set of 8 note cards (larger A6 size).
• a Watercolor of HECKY'S Barbeque in Evanston is also a part of my tribute to Evanston.  These are  also on a larger A6 size card.
• The Alice Millar Chapel on the Northwestern University campus are  also featured on a larger A6 size cards

Sets of 8 cards with a mix of these 3 images can be purchased for $22.

In 1976, it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places, the first of 250 on the Great Lakes. Today the lighthouse continues to guide commerce safely into the crossroads of Chicago. 

It is also the site of The Wildflower Garden Trail designed by Jens Jensen and maintained by The Garden Club of Evanston.

Here We Are in July 2020 and some may wonder what's new.

• The newest water color of the Evanston Grosse Point Lighthouse is a part of my note card collection.

• The Chicago Printmaker Collaborative, in Lincoln Square, will open gradually for printmakers in July and by appointment to the public in August. 
•  If there are no public setbacks because of Corona Virus public health issues, the Chicago Printmakers will open for visitors in September on a limited basis i.e. Fridays and Saturdays noon to 5 p.m.

                                   My Latest Etching of Chicago

The famous Chicago contemporary art museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, was established in 1967 in the Streeterville area of Chicago.   Thousands of modern art artifacts world wide were accumulated by collectors. These represented the period following the 1940's and World War II.

In 1991, prominent Chicago businessmen initiated a plan for a new museum and by 1996 the current building on Chicago Avenue became a reality.  The architect chosen was Josef Paul Kleihues.

Pitchers and Catchers Report 2020

It is that time again and Chicago major league baseball fans await to see baseball headlines as their teams report for spring practice.  "Pitchers and Catchers Report" is the first sign that we are getting ready to start the 2020 season.

Enjoy my etchings of Guaranteed Rate Field and Wrigley Field 

and the historic pregame quote from Cub's longtime public address announcer Pat Pieper:

"Attention.....attention please.....have your pencils ....and scorecards ready..... for the correct lineups..... for today's ballgame"!

Thirty Years of Printmaking Collaboration

2019 marks the 30th year that the Chicago Printmakers Collaborative has been a part of the art scene in the Chicago area.  CPC 's modest beginnings were in the Ukrainian Village but, for the last 25 years, it has been a factor in the revitalization of Lincoln Square.

This 30th Anniversary Year began with our participation in Open House Chicago-2019. Hiroshi Ariyama and I printed on Saturday and Sunday for an audience of over 715 visitors.  Hiroshi is a wonderful screen-print artist and we each focus on images of Chicago.

The next CPC exhibit is the Holiday Small Print Show which will open December 6th and continue through January, 2020.  This is our annual gala with works on paper from artists from near and far.  Original art that is small, not matted, and unframed is shown all over the walls at 4912 North Western in Lincoln Square.

By the way, The Arts Gala at Navy Pier was a success for Chicago Catholic Charities and really fun for me as a guest artist.  Two etchings that were featured are shown below.  My note cards continue to be popular and I am beginning to produce cards that are a larger size (A6), bigger than the size (A2) currently for sale. Stay tuned, they will be available soon.
