The City Restored
Sweet
Home. Chicago
The city has
its roots in the soil of the American Prairie.
But the people who came here speak the world’s languages. The city grew to the heavens in the 20th
century but kept its feet on the ground.
It’s still a city that works: brash, gritty, but filled with beauty that
can take your breath away. It is as
rough as a steelworker’s hands and as soft as a spring breeze off Lake
Michigan, sweetening every street corner.
From a 1990 Chicago Tribune article

| Regeneration is the theme for this bas relief at the Michigan Avenue bridge-tender. |
This bas relief from 1924 called "Regeneration" is dedicated to the women and men that brought the city back from the great fire.
This art by James Earl Fraser and Henry Hering adorns the river's bridge-tender on the southeast side of the DuSable bridge at Wacker Drive and Michigan Avenue.
My prints of this historic site are shown below.

Yup. You read that right. It’s time.
For twenty-five years we have had the privilege of working with the greatest customers and finest artisans we could have ever imagined. And, many of these fine people have become good friends in the process. That’s something we treasure most.
We have made the difficult decision to step away from our physical retail operations and put our primary business focus on our website,sawbridge.com. There we hope to build our web presence and further develop our corporate gift and reward program.
During this transition period and starting immediately, you can look for some incredible values on our remaining floor stock.
Stop into the Winnetka store for details.
Thank you all for 25 great years.

A Print from the Serio Collection "Chicago from Within"
My newest etching is from the collection of urban scenes called Chicago from Within by the photographer Stephen Serio. Steve has been able to create images of Chicago that I admire and that inspire me to create prints that reflect the tone of Chicago.
A sunny morning in Daley Plaza depicts a traveler moving through this city intersection with the help of a green light and the surrounding building's reflected light.
The vantage
points chosen – street level and the top levels of parking garages throughout Chicago’s “Loop” –
enabled for a deconstruction of the cityscape, focusing on details and
cross-sections, some uniquely Chicago, and others exhibiting a universal
“urban-ness.” The familiar views of
street and skyline have been traded for the “mid-section” of the city, inviting
the viewer to explore the world between the penthouse and the pothole.
